Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website and its waitlist, why, and what your rights are. Scene has not launched yet, so this covers the website and waitlist only. We will publish a fuller policy before the app opens.

Who we are

Scene is a product of Devevolution Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17371502), with its registered office at 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA. Devevolution Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here.

For anything about your data, email privacy@joinscene.co.uk.

What we collect

If you join the waitlist, we collect what you enter in the form:

  • your name, or whatever you would like us to call you;
  • your email address;
  • whether you are joining as a host or a guest;
  • if you are a host and choose to tell us: the name of your event or collective, the type of events you run and their typical size.

We also record the date and time you agreed to be emailed. We do not store your IP address or device details with your sign-up.

We do not ask about your sexual orientation, gender identity or health, and we do not need you to tell us. We know that for some people simply being on this list is sensitive, and we treat every waitlist record that way: access is restricted, and it is never sold, shared for marketing or made public.

When you visit the website, our hosting provider automatically processes technical data that every website needs in order to work, such as your IP address and browser type, and keeps short-lived server logs for security and reliability. We do not use these to identify you.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To email you about Scene’s launch, including a confirmation that you are on the list. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • To plan the launch, for example understanding how many hosts and guests are waiting and what kinds of events hosts run. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in building a service that fits the people waiting for it.
  • To keep the website secure and running. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the site and its visitors.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or automated decision-making.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that run the waitlist for us, under contracts that require them to protect it and to use it only on our instructions:

  • Google Cloud (Firebase) stores the waitlist database, in a data centre in London.
  • Resend sends our emails, so it processes your name and email address.
  • Vercel hosts this website and processes the technical data described above.

We may also disclose data if the law requires us to.

Transfers outside the UK

The waitlist database is stored in the UK. Resend and Vercel are based in the United States, so the data they handle for us may be processed there. Where that happens, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK–US data bridge or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. You can ask us for more detail at privacy@joinscene.co.uk.

How long we keep it

We keep your waitlist details until Scene launches and for up to three months afterwards, then delete them. If you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you before then, we delete your details within one month. Our email provider keeps its own delivery records of emails already sent for a limited period.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct it if it is wrong;
  • ask us to delete it;
  • ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it;
  • ask for it in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent to our emails at any time. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

To use any of these, email privacy@joinscene.co.uk or reply to any email we have sent you. It is free, and we will respond within one month.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.

Age

Scene is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. Please do not join the waitlist if you are under 18. If we learn that we hold data about someone under 18, we will delete it.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first at privacy@joinscene.co.uk. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you the outcome without undue delay.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if what we do with your data changes, and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will email everyone on the waitlist before it takes effect.
